Thursday, July 13th will mark the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s third appearance in Fatima, Portugal. Parishioners will commemorate this event by meeting to pray the rosary in front of the Saint Thomas school building by the statue of the Blessed Mother at 7:00PM that day. All are invited!
Next weekend, Father Stephen Bosomafi will be visiting our parish for a bit of vacation and to allow our priests get some time off as well. Father Stephen is a priest of the Diocese of Sunyani (where Father Simon is from) and until recently was the financial officer for the bishop.
As was reported some time ago, the lawsuit accusing Fr. Bob of improprieties was dropped by the plaintiff with the admission that he did not hold Fr. Bob responsible for anything he had been accused of. Unfortunately, the process of renewing his faculties to celebrate Mass and hear confessions publicly takes more time than seems reasonable. Fr. Bob, however, supports every effort of the Church to protect children and anyone else who might be vulnerable, no matter how protracted the process may turn out to be. He asks for your continued prayers, and hopes he will be back at St. Thomas - St. Joseph in the near future. On a brighter note, a book of over 200 of his poems - entitled “In the Hug of a Sun that has Stopped" will be published soon by Lion Autumn Music Publishing. I will let you know when it comes out! The newly formed Finance Council of the St. Thomas – St. Joseph Parish is pleased to announce that we have commenced work looking at ways to make our parish remain strong and viable for years to come. The members that comprise the council come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. The council, as well as the parish trustees include parishioners that were members of the individual Finance Councils at both parishes. As mentioned during the introduction announcement, our hope is that the council and the parish can have a collaborative relationship, providing us with an understanding of what is important to you, as well as fulfilling our responsibility to the parish. We look forward to working with you, and for you to help make our parish a stronger place for all. Susan Hall Dottie Oberle Jeff Hookey Fran Teague Brian Kelly Bill Trainor Jeff Maxson
